The American Sulphur Horse Association was formed in 2003 in an effort to preserve, promote and protect this rare and beautiful Spanish / Iberian horse. Sulphur Springs Herd in Utah's Mountain Home Range is one of the purest existing gene pools of Spanish horses in North America, it has been said to be "the best Spanish-origin horses you would find anywhere in the country and opens up a new, very promising gene pool." The Northern mustangs are shades of buckskin to a gray-blue known as grullo or grulla, dark bars or striping on their legs, a dark dorsal stripe. Bi-colored manes/tails, often tri-colored, a lean body, narrow chest, sloping croup and low-set tail.
